Testing New Goodies

For Christmas we got a DONUT maker!!!  Totally not expected, but David has been looking at that box since we got it.  We busted it out a couple weekends ago.  There are a few different suggested recipes, but we just did the basic donut.  At first it kinda tasted like a pancake but adding the frosting tricked us into it being a donut more.  We took some to our house neighbors and then promptly ate the rest.  YUM!

The next baking project was the weekend before Valentine's day.  We had a game night with some neighbors and decided to do chocolate strawberries and also strawberry cake heart shaped cookies.  We definitely have the chocolate strawberries down, but the heart cookies, we weren't sure.  We used a strawberry cake mix and then shaped them into hearts - actually found out you roll 2 smaller balls of dough and then when laying next to each other, you pull the bottoms down to form the heart point and shape the rest.  Not too bad, but the line in the middle and the roundness of the two sides (cheeks) just got us giggling.  Before baked they look like little bums :)  I guess hearts or bums are appropriate for Love week right???  We had fun together, thanks D for helping me!
