"Andie"

So, maybe you wonder - why did Andrea name her blog Andie?  First of all - for all those stalkers - and secondly - I donno.  Obviously we know why it says "Crazy".  But, I might as well tell you all, I've always wanted to be called "Andie".  Yep.  But, really, more like a nick name from a best friend, and my future husband.  I just love it!  I already mentioned "How to Lose A Guy" and she's named that there too and it just fit her crazy personality.  And that's me.  I'm kinda crazy.  But only those close to me would know that huh?
Well, my roommates and a few people in my last ward started calling me "Andie" for some reason.  My roommate Court was like - maybe he's the one??  HAHA.  Yeah, no.  But, when I moved to Murray my first week I thought - wouldn't it be great to change my name?  And why not? I don't know anyone here.  So - I did!!  Yeah, what??  Not like I really respond to it even yet. But everything went smooth the first Sunday.  The next week I went to church again and I automatically was saying "Andrea" until one person said - I thought it was Andie!  Oh yeah!  WhOOoops!  Hahah...Guess I had already forgot.  So, I explained that it's both.  Then I proceeded to introduce myself as Andie from then on again.  It hasn't been too confusing - only that at work I go by Andrea still, but in my ward I'm getting used to Andie a bit.
Sadly though...I miss "ANDREA".  Yep.  I'm that usual fickle girl huh? I like Andie - but I realized that I like it as a "Andie - you are like my favorite crazy girl ever...etc" But here I am getting all these random people I don't know calling me it.  Oh well.  I will learn.  I don't know if I can switch back now.
What's even more funny - - - so, I realized that there's one girl from my home ward in this new ward...and we've hung out a couple times.  And I go by Andrea with her, cuz that's normal for her.  She didn't know.  Then yesterday at Ward Prayer she heard people say "Andie" and I introduced myself as that and she goes... "What??" All blonde like.  (she is...) I about laughed so hard - but seeing her confusion I had to straighten her out...and so she's in on it now.  HAHAH.
That will make me smile for a few days - remembering her surprise - I think she must have thought she was calling me the wrong name and didn't know it.  HAHA.
Anyway - just call me Andrea.  I love it.  Someday maybe Andie will come naturally and I won't have to fake it.

Drama Drama Drama

Anyone seen "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days" ?  Love it.  Anyway, that's not the point, except for one part where the girls say "drama drama drama" because of the funny dating issues...

Well, there has been some DRAMA at work, to say the least.  But it sure does make an eventful day.  Let's review - I work at LANDesk Software in South Jordan, very close to the Jordan River temple.  I do "HR", even though I studied Finance.  I am the one with the least experience so I get to do the stuff no one likes I guess.  I started doing data entry for the HR data system.  I still do that, but I'm so glad they've let me branch out a bunch.  We have the New Hire meetings and Orientations, benefits to help them sign up for, payroll to get figured out, issues and problems to solve...that's basically my job - solving problems!  It's good though.  And then last week I did my first lay offs, which were hard - but totally need that experience.  So, I've worked here since May 19th of 2008.  It was a rocky start, going to Florida for training, being left with a bunch of stuff that no one knew how to train me on, etc.  It was kind of a mess and I just kept telling myself and everyone that I liked it, even though I wasn't sure yet.  Sadly, I didn't go to work all excited to be there.  BUT...it has changed!!!  I LOVE IT!! And the sad part is that the real turning point was the layoffs.  So, I think what really changed was that I finally proved myself worthy of HR.  And the rest of my team and other managers feel confident and trust in me more than just to do the paperwork.  It's great to feel that I can do it and people trust me.  So, that means I'm in the "group" now.  My boss, the other HR girl, and the lawyers, we all can laugh and joke about all the funny HR stuff or DRAMA that goes on around here.
Honestly, we should write down all the stuff we hear/see.  Here are a few funny things:
- A guy asked Shannon who was single on the 4th floor because he wanted to know who he could date; that's obviously confidential, but can't you just look at the girls finger?
- We had a couple secretaries who were out to get each other - it was so bad! It was kinda childish and stupid to see grown women yelling at or ignoring each other etc...
- Our "recruiter" - She sits next to me in the cubes that HR and Legal have.  This has been the most recent drama.  So - she is one of those people that EVERYONE knows, because she likes to come over and talk about her day, her kids, her Gyno appointment, the meds she's taking, and everything.  And you think that's bad?  No, since we hired her in October, I can honestly tell you all about her life.  And not only because she tells me - but because she tells everyone on the phone that she talks to. And she's pretty loud. I could "quote" her because I hear the drama of her life that day.  Either her daughter got a speeding ticket - once - but I heard the story 20 times...or she moved and is getting settled in, etc.  Everyone in my office thinks that I'm the MOST patient person because I am the one who deals with the Payroll people who are pretty stupid in Alabama.  But, last Friday, I had had enough and I was ready to poke my eye out or something.  Our recruiter was extra loud and all of us around her were IMing about how loud she was and that she was on one phone call for 1 hour, and it was basically all personal.  I could just go on and on about her - how she doesn't show up some days, etc. ...  But her life is always  a drama.  And last week she was talking so loud that my boss in her office with a door could hear her - so my boss Jayne sends her a nice e-mail saying to just be a bit quieter because we are all trying to work.  Well, after that she freaked out and printed the e-mail and we all became her drama - she asked us all who tattled on her and went to the boss etc.  And then she didn't talk to anyone of us the next day.  What's sad is that we all really enjoyed the peace and quiet.  And I got a lot more done because I wasn't going crazy with the stories.  This drama is definitely NOT over with - it will be interesting to follow - I'm not sure how long she'll be with us - I think if she doesn't move desks, and we don't start hiring, we're basically paying her to chat about her personal life all day and we aren't going to survive for much longer.  Well, we'll see what happens next week.  More drama for sure!  It's fun though now that I have "friends" and am trusted a bit more, we all just laugh etc.  I guess it's a click that I'm in now, sad to say that, but I'm glad that I've finally proved myself here.  Ciao

LOST Junkie

I was actually excited to have a blog - and after I wrote my first post I thought - well I better wait at least a day for the next one. Then.... LOST happened. Anyone watch it? Yeah, last Fall I got hooked while I watched a few of Season 1 on-line. After that I decided I would watch a few every week and get caught up to Season 5. So this last week - I became a LOST junkie. Like, honestly, I watched 5 episodes in a row one evening. (Rough day at work = good time to lay down and watch Lost at home...my first lay offs were a good experience but tiring, sad, and hard). So, last week I was at the beginning of Season 3. And now, I'm almost done with Season 4. I was planning on getting it all done before the Season started yesterday. DANG!! And I didn't. But I planned on watching it anyway...till I found out there was like 3 hours worth...and some friends invited me for dinner. So, I got chatting and realized - crap! I missed LOST. So, after dutifully watching every extra living minute that I had for the last week...here I didn't even see what I had been planning for since the Fall. HA. That is funny to me. BUT, luckily with today's world I have a new friend who has Tivo and Tivoed it for me - Honestly, never even seen a Tivo so no idea how to spell that baby. We'll see if I watch it at his place or just wait till it shows up on-line. Hope it does, that would be more convenient.

But, let me just say...I really like that show. I'm hooked. It's like TV drama, soap opera, movie, I donno how to describe it. I think the title actually describes the viewers more than the people on the island. It's a great mystery though, and nothing ever really gets solved or tied up. I'm surprised I'm not dreaming about it seeing for how much I watched it this week. I also can't believe that there will still be 2 more seasons after this. I'm not sure where they're taking this, but I sure do look up to writers a lot more these days. I have no idea where they get their imagination, and how a story can get so intertwined. Cool.

And I do have to say, that even though I've been hooked on LOST, I haven't been staying in my apartment. I've gone to parties, activities, church, dinners, movies, ice cream, and tonight ICE skating - my favorite! I think the move is already going good. I like it here. I miss close friends, but I think I'm going to grow a lot. I need to get out of my comfort zone a bit more and be my crazy self. They haven't seen that side of me yet! Yeah, some of you are like, what? Andrea not crazy? I know. Weird.

Well, I'll try to remember the good things I wanted to write and actually use my blog...as soon as I'm up to speed on LOST :0

I'm officially a BLOGGER now.  What?  No way!!  Yeah, I wasn't planning on blogging till my life got a bit more interesting.  But what the heck, my life is pretty interesting actually.  And, why wait till I'm married? I'm turning a new leaf, starting anew, doing a 180...blah blah blah.
So, what am I supposed to say?  Who knows. Anything right? I suppose only my deeply devoted friends and family will be reading...and that's probably good!  This is probably more for me because I haven't been so up on my journal as of yet.  Well, I'm going to try not to make this a "journal" but more of updates, memories, things not to forget, embarrassing stories (because there will sure be some), goals, aspirations, dreams, life lessons that I'm learning....  This won't be a BOY blog, not that I can stop myself, but I will try to be brief or evasive so that it won't be a boy bashing or loving party...
I actually have some ideas...and fun things to write, so maybe I won't bore you too much, but if I do, who cares!  This is more for me anyway...  I'm starting my life right now.  My life is a playground and I'm ready to ride it.  I just moved to Murray (more on that later), and I really hope this change will be just what the doctor ordered.  I still can't believe I'm doing a blog though, I almost feel like I'm back on the mission, sort of, okay, not really at all, but just that here's a way for people to get to live a bit of my life again.  Man, I'm already rambling on my first post.  Yikes.  2009 here I come!!  Whaooaooao!!!!
