Because of being sick, we ended up getting to Dallas a day late, which meant less time with them, but luckily we still had a few days and I hope we got in everything we could. Really if I just sat and chatted with them for 3 days, I'd have been happy. We stayed with them which was a bonus because then we would see more of them during naps and early bed times. They were great hosts and spoiled us crazy.
Sunday, we arrived after a longer drive than anticipated, because of traffic. The kids played and we just chatted. I got to go with Annie to support her give a talk at a YW's evening fireside. She did great, and really all the talks were motivational even to me. One elderly lady gave a great talk with specifics of many events from her life and lessons learned. They were just small stories but wow, I was envious at her memory - need to write down more details and lessons learned.
The boys did LOTS of legos. Needed to see what pieces were missing so more could be ordered. What better way then try to build them all?
Monday we woke up early, of course thanks to Tyson, and he was ready for a nap before we headed out anywhere. We packed it in though once nap #1 was done.
We went to a few shops and then to the mall to see the Lego store. Heaven for the boys. Good thing Annie and I stopped at a cute color shop before this so we were content watching the boys drool in Lego land.
Unexpectedly we found this crazy sushi by conveyor belt restaurant in the mall. I voted that we try it because who has said they've tried this before? And apparently this is quite the authentic way to do it in Japan.? Sam was in awe.
We split up - the boys went downtown to see some historical sites, the temple and museums. The girls & Ty went home for naps. Tyson took awhile to cry to sleep but finally made it.
Then we met up for dinner at our "of course" place, Benihana. Yum. We had a quick lice scare, but lets not talk too much about that and just say - we didn't have it :)
Tuesday morning we woke up at about 3am to Tyson really hot and crying. He didn't go back to sleep really at all, we just took turns holding him. Not good for a travel day. We found out it was teething. Poor boy. We packed up and had to head home. Sad. Luckily we had a good evening the night before and got extra chat time. And with the early rise time, D&A were exhausted! Tyson didn't sleep long on the plane but a couple shorter naps with Tylenol and fever. I'm pretty sure D&A may have fallen asleep with our eyes open and holding Ty.

While sad to leave the family and Tyson's cousins that he enjoyed playing with - we were also glad to be home.
