On the RoAd Again

JUNE 11 - 15 RoAdTrIp to New Canaan Connecticut

Yep, I did it AGAIN. I headed back EAST 2 weeks after I had just gotten back!

I know. I'm crazy. But, it was Courtney's fault. I met Court on my mission and we were roommates and served at the same time. Then we lived together in Provo for the last 1.5 years before I moved to SLC. She graduated BYU in Band teaching and after going through the "I don't know what to do next" phase we all do after college... she randomly decided one day to move back home. But she needed a co-driver to make the 36 hour trek. Yes I did write - 36 hours!! And naturally, I said YES. For a few reasons. 1 - I won't ever get to see my little Courtie again and that makes me so sad. 2 - She tempted me by saying we could stop at a rollercoaster park Cedar Point, even though we were supposed to road trip to CA to Six Flags, but I figured Ohio could be cool too. 3 - And there really weren't too many other reasons except that I hadn't been "across-country" and I love road trips with friends and I kinda felt like I still needed another vacation.
Driving 36 hours really isn't a vacation - just so you all know!! That's what I decided now that I'm home though. And I would do it again, although it wouldn't be a #1 or even #5 on my list. Unless maybe with someone I could cuddle with or something...hhaha.
But, for Courtney's sake, it was GREAT. Everyone of our old roommates wondered if we would KILL each other. HAH. Sad! But, true. Luckily, I am writing this and did talk to Court on the phone the other day as well, so we are both alive. We actually did pretty good for the most part!! By the end we were slightly DONE, but it was still a great experience and memory I will have forever!! I wish we had so many cool stories, but basically sitting in a car and driving through the wetlands (it rained so much) doesn't give you too many funny stories. But, of course, there still were some. And pictures too. Here are some pictures of the first day... The car (Corolla Rolla) was packed to the top. We are lucky I even fit! And the 2 pairs of underware that Court allowed me to bring (joking! We totally fit my whole suitcase of crap)
I don't think we made goals for our trip, but I'm sure we had some kinda...so I'll tell you what we did and didn't "accomplish".

#1 - Be safe and survive - CHECK! We did that. We stayed at hotels that were secured from the outside, we drove so that both of us were awake all the time (basically), we signaled and tried to watch other drivers. We did speed a bit - but that was more me. When Court gets talking she forgets she's supposed to be driving (although still safe right??) so she would loose speed a lot and I'd drive fast to catch it up...

#2 - Visit some cool po-dunk restuarant on the way. And we DID!! We couldn't decide - The Happy Chef, or Dairy Sweet ; Dairy won. It was good, but they didn't take credit - crazy place...
#3 - Don't get too fat off the crap food. Well, we kinda couldn't help that. But we tried salads at least a few times. And Dairy Sweet had enough fat for the whole week!

#4 - Don't kill each other. Success again! Don't worry, we don't hate each other at all. I think it's that we're so close that we just know how to bug each other and stuff when we are frusterated or something. And we did pretty good to just be happy and not be bugged...

#5 - Get there in 36 hours. Hmm. I have no idea!! I think it took longer really. Plus we drove a bit out of the way when we did Winter Quarters, Cedar Point, and PA for her family. But oh well...

#6 - Stop and take pics. Okay that didn't happen really. We wanted to, but when you are finally going, you don't want to stop after awhile cuz that takes too long and really, it was raining so much that the pictures wouldn't be that cool. But - here's pics of Court and her crazy glasses. She didn't have contacts at the moment and when it was sunny she'd put her sunglasses over her regular glasses. It was quite funny!
#7 - Don't get lost. Or maybe Don't get too lost?? Cuz of course, heck yes, we got lost. I mean it had to happen. Put 2 girls in a car. Tell them to drive to the other side of the country. One girl, mind you, barely had any idea as to which countries we were driving through, I mean, states... Then also factor in that maybe they get distracted easily, like to chat a lot, and dance in the car, and maybe not the best at directions always. Yeah... Disaster waiting to happen. But we didn't get TOO lost. Just a bit off the path each day. Usually it was when we were trying to find our hotel we'd take the wrong exit (usually this was me, I'd pass it because we forget to look till we see it off to the side too late) - and the roads are a bit more confusing when you've never seen them before. Maybe I'm just justifying, but yeah. We at least did make it to CT, so success eventually right?

Okay I'll post more info about the other parts of our trip soon...
